NEW YORK, NY -- A short filmmaking contest aimed at discovering new talent now has its 15th finalist.

Shalini Kantayya is one of the lucky few competing in The Doorpost Film Project, which aims to discover filmmakers capable of creating inspiring films instead of just entertaining ones.

Kantayya's received $10,000 to produce her submission RED.

The film premiered August 19th and is described as "the story of a young woman struggling for a voice against a grave environmental injustice."

Gbenga Akinnagbe from HBO's acclaimed series The Wire stars in the film.

If RED wins, Kantayya will receive a check for $100,000 and get to meet with film studios in Los Angeles for a chance to sign a film deal.
